Not sure if this is a bug or perhaps I misunderstood the instruction but I can't make any file or folder offline unless It's on the root directory.

There was an issue that was preventing us from reliably making non-root folder offline, we've created an issue that we need to execute:
https://s3drive.canny.io/feature-requests/p/mobile-offline-folder-files-support-nested-directories
Mobile offline folder/files - support nested directories | Feature ...
At the moment it's only possible to "offline" file or folder that's present in the root path.

I see, because last time I was able to make a file offline now I can't. Btw just a clarification are the offline files encrypted?

It's stored in the app's private directory (
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/ContextWrapper.html#getFilesDir())
and at the moment there is no additional encryption other than the one configured on your Android.
